Human and Organizational Performance for High-Consequence Environments
Noetis Advisory helps leaders and organizations operating in complex, high-consequence environments improve safety and performance by understanding how work actually happens.
Drawing on Human and Organizational Performance (HOP), human factors, and practical organizational learning methods, we help teams understand the conditions that shape their work, learn from everyday operations and incidents, and make meaningful improvements to the systems in which people operate.
Founded by Andrew M. Leonard, a retired U.S. Army colonel and HOP practitioner, Noetis brings together senior organizational leadership experience and applied human factors expertise. Our approach begins with understanding and learning, rather than blame.
Incidents are not the only source of insight. Most days, in most organizations, work succeeds through preparation, coordination, experience, and the adaptations people make when conditions differ from the plan.
Understanding that everyday work — including the conditions that support success and the challenges people routinely overcome — provides opportunities to strengthen safety and performance before something goes wrong.
HOP advisory, human factors education, and facilitated learning teams that help organizations understand how work actually happens and improve the conditions that shape performance.
Learning-focused reviews of incidents, near misses, successful operations, and everyday work to identify opportunities for practical improvement.
Independent assessment and improvement of safety programs, operational practices, and the systems that support safe and effective work.
Advisory support for leaders seeking to strengthen organizational learning, operational resilience, and safety performance in complex environments.
Noetis applies these approaches across corporate and industrial operations, government and defense organizations, research and technical environments, and specialized high-risk activities.
Diving presents distinctive challenges in team coordination, decision-making, equipment use, and risk management. Noetis applies HOP and human factors methods to dive safety programs, instructor development, incident learning, and operational safety.
Our work in diving draws on professional instructional experience, human factors education, and participation in diving fatality and injury research.
If your organization wants to better understand how work is performed and how to improve safety and performance, we'd welcome a conversation.
